The hidden cost of checkout friction

Small POS Issues Add Up to
Big Business Costs

Slow transactions, system limitations, pricing mistakes and disconnected processes rarely seem serious on their own. But when they happen across employees, locations and hundreds of daily transactions, they quietly create lost sales, higher labor costs and frustrated customers.

01

Checkout Lines Move Too Slowly.

Entry-level systems can struggle during busy periods, increasing transaction times, creating longer lines and making customers wait when your team should be moving quickly.

02

System Freezes Interrupt Sales.

Crashes, lockups and unreliable hardware force employees to restart transactions, delay customers and sometimes risk losing the sale altogether.

03

Payment Options Become Limiting.

Basic POS platforms may not support the payment methods, integrations or transaction flexibility customers expect, creating unnecessary friction at checkout.

04

Pricing Mistakes Reach the Register.

Disconnected pricing, promotions and product information can result in incorrect charges, manual overrides and uncomfortable conversations with customers.

05

Employees Spend Time on Workarounds.

When the POS cannot handle everyday processes efficiently, employees rely on spreadsheets, manual entry and repeated steps that increase labor costs and the chance of mistakes.

06

Problems Become Harder as You Grow.

What works for one counter or one location can become difficult to manage across departments and stores, leading to inconsistent data, unreliable reporting and operational problems that become more expensive over time.

Identify the real problem

The Transaction Starts at the Register. The Impact Reaches Across Your Business.

A basic POS system may complete the sale, but it often leaves the rest of the work disconnected. Inventory, customer records, pricing, and payments can fall out of sync, creating manual work, costly errors, and problems that are discovered too late.

What Working With POS Highway Includes

Counterpoint is the software. This is the work that turns it into a running system.

  • Implementation and configuration
  • Data migration from your current system
  • Staff and manager training
  • Ongoing support from our own team
  • Microsoft Azure cloud hosting, managed
  • Ecommerce and channel integration
  • DataIQ dashboards and alerts
  • Multi-location rollout

Software on its own does not run a business. Configuration, data migration, training and day to day support are what turn it into a system your team can depend on.

Questions buyers ask

What Owners and Operators Want to
Know Before They Choose.

The questions that come up most often when a retail or wholesale business is comparing point of sale systems and the partners who implement them.

Is Counterpoint only for larger retailers, or does it fit a single store?

It fits both. A single-location retailer can run the same core system a multi-branch distributor runs, configured to a smaller footprint. The advantage is that growth does not force a replacement later, because adding a location, a warehouse or a sales channel extends the system you already have.

Can one system handle retail checkout and wholesale B2B pricing together?

Yes, and this is where Counterpoint separates itself from general retail software. Cash sales at the counter and account customers with contract pricing, quantity breaks, credit limits and statements run in the same system, against the same inventory and the same customer records.

What happens to the data in our current system?

Data migration is part of the implementation. Items and inventory quantities, vendors, customer records, open balances and history are mapped and moved into Counterpoint, with validation before go-live rather than after it.

Where does the system run, and do we need a server?

No server is required. POS Highway delivers Counterpoint as a cloud point of sale hosted on Microsoft Azure and managed by our team, so there is no server hardware to buy, patch or replace. Registers, back office, warehouse staff and management reach the same live system from any location, with backups, security updates and monitoring handled for you.

Does DataIQ replace Counterpoint reporting?

It does not. Counterpoint remains the system of record for the transaction. DataIQ reads that data and presents it as live dashboards, trends and exception alerts, so management sees what deserves attention now instead of assembling reports after the fact.

What makes POS Highway different from other point of sale providers?

Depth in retail and wholesale together. Many point of sale systems handle counter sales well but treat account customers as an afterthought, so contract pricing, credit limits, sales orders, statements and receivables end up in spreadsheets. POS Highway delivers all of it in one cloud system on Microsoft Azure, adds DataIQ AI dashboards for live margin and performance visibility, and handles implementation, data migration, training and ongoing support with our own team.
