Best practices for Counterpoint software maintenance and security

     Recommended Tasks :
  • Regular Counterpoint software updates and patches – Update the POS software and hardware regularly to safeguard against vulnerabilities. Install security patches promptly upon availability.
  • Annual software updates (CSS Fee) – You have access to Counterpoint Subscription Service for an annual fee. This yearly subscription covers the latest NCR Counterpoint software features update. This may cover PCI compliance, new functionalities, and forthcoming technology improvements.
  • Critical data backup – Establish a strong data backup plan by regularly backing up crucial POS data to a secure location to avoid any potential data loss.

 

 

  • Anti malware and antivirus software on POS and business computers – Antivirus products function by identifying, isolating, and removing harmful code, thereby safeguarding your device from potential damage caused by malware.
  • POS system security access control – Utilize robust access controls to restrict sensitive POS functions and data access according to employees’ roles. Enforce strict password guidelines.
  • POS hardware security – Enhance the security of the credit card device, POS terminals, and servers that support your POS system to prevent theft or unauthorized access.
  • Payment processing compliance – Ensure that your POS system complies with industry standards and regulations, such as PCI DSS for payment processing, to protect customer data and avoid legal issues.
